Who are we?

Angelina’s is a fine dining restaurant situated near the crescent-shaped shores of Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica. Our food is authentic, fresh, and inspired by the bounty of the northwest coastal Guanacaste region. Named after our beloved grandmother, Angelina’s represents her Italian roots and heartfelt dedication to her family. We welcome you into ours!


Since 2008, we have been serving locals and visitors of the Playa Flamingo area. We pride ourselves on our attentive service, our globally inspired locally sourced cuisine, and our unique open-air dining room that inspires us every day.

Our Staff

Owner and Executive Chef Joseph Mucaria specializes in destination dining. As a teen, he began his culinary career working with his family at the renowned Harbor Beach Resort in Northern Michigan. For nine seasons he worked his way through the kitchen, ultimately earning the position of executive chef. From there he went on to work at resorts in Alaska and Florida. In 2005, the tropics beckoned him and he established El Jardin in Playa Brasilito, Costa Rica. In 2008, Joseph opened Angelina’s.

Head Chef Justin Mucaria loves to apply his classical training to the fresh tropical ingredients that are available steps from the kitchen. He and his brother Joseph love to get up early and dive for the day’s catch. As brothers, they grew up working together at Harbor Beach Resort. Justin went on to further his knowledge in northern Italian cuisine, working at Andiamo’s Trattoria in Grosse Point, Michigan and later at Birmingham Athletic Club.
